Genre: Fiction
Year of Publication: 2012
Author: Rainbow Rowell
About the Author:
Sometimes she writes about adults (Attachments and Landline).
Sometimes she writes about teenagers (Eleanor & Park, Fangirl and Carry On.).
But she always writes about people who talk a lot. And people who feel like they’re screwing up. And people who fall in love.
When she’s not writing, Rainbow is reading comic books, planning Disney World trips and arguing about things that don’t really matter in the big scheme of things.
She lives in Nebraska with her husband and two sons. (http://www.rainbowrowell.com/about/)
How did you learn about the book?
Often displayed side by side with Rowell’s Fangirl, I thought this might be a good one, too. After examining Rainbow Rowell’s list of publications, I picked this one next. š
About: Set over one school year in 1986, Eleanor & Park is the story of two star-crossed misfits – smart enough to know first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try.
My Thoughts:
Rainbow Rowell definitely knows how to hit the spot where nostalgia and young love exist.
I finished the book in approximately half a day and left me wanting for more. Now, I know that there are plenty of books that speak about first love. I guess what makes this one stand out is how Rowell built up the intensity between these two young individuals in ways which you may not expect at first.
As I try to picture out the two main characters, I can imagine Sophie Turner aka Sansa Stark in the Game of Thrones and Ki Hong Lee aka Minho in the Maze Runner. Well, just make Sophie Turner a little rounder and wear baggy clothes and I think she can get away with the role in the movie adaptation. I bet the chemistry would be phenomenal.

In 2014, news were already circulating that Dreamworks are in touch with Rowell for the adaptation of the bestseller. Unfortunately, it was confirmed in 2016 that the rights were returned to the author and the movie is no longer in development. Oh well, let’s just hope for the best. š
So, if you’re planning to grab a book that would bring you to a world of teenage love, I believe this one’s for you. š
Have you read the book? What are your thoughts about it? How do you picture out the main characters?
